The
Rev. Hazel Smith Glover
The congregation of St Margaret's called the Reverend Hazel Smith Glover as their rector beginning May 1, 2002. Previously, she had served several congregations as vicar, rector and associate rector. Hazel is a 1993 graduate of the School of Theology, University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. (http://theology.sewanee.edu) Prior to entering seminary, she was an accounting professor at LaGrange College. During her priesthood, Hazel has served as a retreat leader, spiritual director, a Fresh Start facilitator, as a facilitator for Omega Point’s contemplative spiritual formation and direction program, a member of the nominating committee for the Ninth Bishop of Atlanta, on the Diocesan Standing Committee, Finance Committee and Mikell Board.
Hazel writes:
Coming to St. Margaret’s has been a lot like coming home. I grew up down the road in LaGrange and have an undergraduate degree from West Georgia. During the search process, I felt an immediate connection with St. Margaret’s people. They laugh out loud. They are genuine. They live out their faith in visible and compassionate ways. A compelling piece of the “soul” of this place is her connection with St. Margaret, Queen of Scots. The stone from Iona embedded our altar is a powerful symbol of that connection for this extroverted, yet contemplative priest.
